Formation of the Inert Complex
The ligand binding domain of the nascent progesterone receptor interacts with heat shock proteins (Hsp90, Hsp70) and accessory proteins (immunophilins, Hop, p23) to form an inert complex that sequesters and shields the monomeric receptor. The ligand binding domain of the nascent, monomeric GeneSwitch® regulator protein drives the formation of a similar inert complex. The formation of the inert complex reduces the level of basal expression and the toxicity risks.
